Steatite Blazepoint visits House of Lords

12 July 2010

Steatite Blazepoint recently attended the A|D|S Annual Security Reception, a major networking event hosted by Lord Peter Imbert CVO QPM and open to A|D|S members, Government Departments and Agencies. The Reception was held in the prestigious Peers' Dining Room, at the House of Lords, which is steeped in history.

Selwyn Petterson, Business Development Manager for Steatite Blazepoint, who attended the event, commented; - "This event was a fantastic opportunity to meet with other members of A|D|S as well as Government Departments and Establishments including UKTI DSO, the Home Office, Embassies and other organisations with which A|D|S have a close association."

HMI Bernard Hogan-Howe was this year's Chief Guest. Mr Hogan-Howe joined Her Majesty's Inspectorate of the Constabulary in 2009, having previously been the Chief Constable of Merseyside police since 2004. This was his second spell with Merseyside Police; from 1997 to 2001 he was Assistant Chief Constable with responsibilities including community affairs and area operations. Mr Hogan-Howe moved back to Merseyside in 2004 after just over 3 years as Assistant Commissioner at the Metropolitan Police.

Selwyn Petterson added; - "There is a real need for an effective security industry at present. Although the Government is responsible for delivering national security, with the strategic environment becoming more challenging, the Government is increasingly seeking industry's support in delivering security needs. Partnership with companies like Steatite Blazepoint in the fight against terrorism and other security threats has never been more important."
