Steatite Blazepoint Launches New Tactical Tablet PC
Steatite Blazepoint, leaders in rugged technology and engineering, have launched a new Tactical Tablet PC for military and commercial applications. The new range of the ndura RUGGED® Tactical Tablet PC's incorporate the Intel® Atom™ processor.
The introduction of the Intel® Atom™ processor into the new Tactical Tablet PC has enabled Steatite Blazepoint to develop an easy-to-use mobile device with expandable interfaces and targeted performance, with the added benefit of low power consumption. The ultra rugged and ergonomic design of the tactical tablet provides the optimal balance between performance, mobility and protection. Provision has been made within the Tablet's design to allow for installation on existing mounting systems
Gary Littledyke, Sales and Marketing Director for Steatite Blazepoint, commented, “With low power consumption, optional sunlight readable display and being smaller and lighter than its predecessor, it is easy to see why we have had such significant interest in this exciting and flexible new product.”
To enhance this range of devices and to make use of dual core based technology, Steatite Blazepoint has designed a common “Super I/O card” capable of providing the technology insertion potential for future developments. This card facilitates changes to the quantity of and configuration of available I/O (Interoperability) including USB and serial ports as well as accommodating the use of a dedicated graphics adapter.
Being lightweight, relatively small and yet having a high resolution 1024 x 768 pixels XGA screen makes it ideal for looking at any visual material such as video or mapping data. Capable of operating at -20°C to +51°C gives a wide theatre of operational use. The unit will also be capable of being powered from a wide DC input range so that there is no need for an external vehicle power supply unit as it can take 12/28 Volts DC to conform to MIL-STD-1275B.
Steatite Blazepoint has also utilised COM Express, a computer-on-module (COM) form factor to design the Tablets integrated circuit component. This provides a scalable architecture suitable for low power hand-held, vehicle mounted or embedded computers.
Steatite Blazepoint offers its customers a unique opportunity to adapt products to meet extended environmental, EMC protected or TEMPEST requirements. Expert in adapting COTS equipment, Steatite Blazepoint transforms products to work far beyond the original manufacturer's specification. Offering client focused engineering with technology driven processes, Steatite Blazepoint engineers IT Hardware with enhancements that allow transport and operation in ground mobile, airborne, shipboard and other harsh environments. Controlling the design and the manufacture gives Steatite Blazepoint far greater flexibility in the ultimate design performance.
