Corporate Profile
Blazepoint is headquartered near Oxford. The company’s main
activity is the design and manufacture of printers and associated
peripherals for use on computer systems. Ruggedised printers to
UK and USA specification are designed for the defence industry.
Specialised thermal printers are produced to service commercial
labelling and ticketing applications for worldwide distribution
as well as integration into kiosk applications.
Although the company's origins date back to 1982, the company in
its current form started to develop in 1995 when the business began
to evolve from its then core business of office printer sales to
the sale of specialist application printers and rugged engineering.
The business now operates two key divisions: Defence Engineering
and Commercial Products. The activities of these divisions are outlined
below:
Defence Engineering
The division supplies computer peripherals designed to withstand
extremes of temperature, shock and vibration that are largely used
in the harsh environments encountered in mobile military operations
or on board ships. The division's customer base comprises of the
defence prime contractors such as Thales (formerly Thomson), British
Aerospace and ICL, where the rugged products produced form part
of an overall tactical system rather than individual units being
supplied to end users. The company’s new range of products
has been selected for the Bowman project and is the de facto standard
for associated applications.
Commercial
Products
The division markets a range of specialist application printers
such a ticket printers, thermal kiosk printers, plastic card printers
and our own range of thermal barcode label printers to Value Added
Resellers and System Integrators worldwide. The division evolved
out of the acquisition of Edgetech Ltd in 1999 and subsequent acquisitions
of other printer specialists in 2002.
